That’s right! The world of "THE MONSTERS," created by the brilliant artist Kasing Lung, began its journey way back in 2015. As passionate fans (and specialized doll tailors!), we wanted to take a moment to look back at the incredible journey of these little monsters and share some exciting news about the 10th Anniversary celebrations.
The Origin Story: It Started with a Fairy Tale
Long before the blind boxes and vinyl figures, "THE MONSTERS" started as ink on paper.
Drawing inspiration from Nordic folklore and mythology , Kasing Lung published the first picture book in Taiwan in 2015. The original trilogy—The Story of Puca (2015), Pato and the Girl (2015), and Miró's Requiem (2015)—laid the foundation for this magical universe.
Fun Fact: In the beginning, Labubu wasn't even the main character! Kasing Lung revealed that in the first book, Labubu was just a background character designed to add a bit of humor to a serious story. Who knew that the little guy hiding in the corner would grow up to become a global superstar?
From Art to Icon
In 2019, the partnership with Pop Mart turned these storybook characters into the collectibles we know and love today
